Story for the Worker

I grew up when music was all about the Soul and those who liked that kind of music we were called soul swingers, we learnt to embrace the music not just in our ears or our mind but we let our body embrace the music in fact the whole reason it was called soul music is you would let your soul Embrace the music too.

Near where I lived there used to be a nightclub called The Bedroom it was a very popular night club and The Bedroom would be packed to the seams at the weekend, you could guarantee that any night you went to The Bedroom you would have a good time, there was never any trouble there everyone was always totally chilled out, I think alot of it was to do with the soul music that was being played its not like this rave stuff that you hear nowadays.

We didnt need drugs to be able to get up and dance and appreciate the music, although i doubt alot of these youngsters would actually know what appreciating the music means, yes they listen to the music but they don't actually hear it and there is a big difference.

I am quite an emotional person anyway but when i am listening to music i get lost in myself, depending on the type of music and the words it can even bring me to tears, I am one of those that can go to an opera and although the entire thing is in Latin, i know exactly what is being said to a point and can follow the opera through the music and the emotion.

What is a song if it doesn't have words and music that mean something, instead of this loud thudding of drums or bass, with people shouting and screeching through it but never actually saying anything, i know its each to its own but how can you call that music, and half of them aren't produced with instruments its all done on computers that simulate instruments, i have heard a lot of old good songs reproduced and ruined this way, i am not avert to change but change surely should be for the better and not a step backwards.
