Story for the Worker

I was going through my morning newspaper and the last few pages were filled with advertisements of internet dating websites. There were different advertisements posted. Some said that handsome guys can meet good looking and sexy girls and for girls it said that beautiful single girls can hang out with good looking, charming and rich guys. No doubt, they had also mentioned a good amount of registration fees which was there for guys and for girls there were no registration fees and they could apply for free. There were also some other dating websiteswho were charging a reasonably low amount of registration fees from girls as well. I was always of the view point that these dating websites are all run by fraudsters and they cheat people without letting them know that they are getting ripped. I myself never tried any of them and would never want to try any of these dating websites ever.

I have a small grocery store at the end of the road and am pretty pleased with my business and the profits I earn from it. I had a girl coming to my grocery store on a regular basis. I never managed to know her name but always wanted to start with a conversation as I felt I started liking her and if given an opportunity would also start dating her.

I could hardly speak with her as we only used to talk when she comes to the counter to pay her bills. However, once I got a golden chance to talk with her for long and also to know her in a better way. She was picking her stuff from the racks when my father announced that those who shop for more than £1000 will get a surprise gift and the surprise gift would be a golden ring. I started praying her to be the winner as it was only for the first 2 customers who do a shopping of £1000 and comes to pay it at the payment counter. To my fortune, she swiftly bought all the things which she wanted and ensured that her bill is more than £1000 and became the winner. She was announced as the winner and was given that golden ring. She was immensely pleased by getting that and she hugged my father out of joy. As the ring was given by me, she also stepped ahead to embrace me but then stopped seconds before doing so. I somehow dared to ask her she would like to join me for lunch and she agreed. I was waiting for this moment for so long. I took her to the nearby cafe and we had lunch over there. We also spoke a lot about ourselves so that we know each other. She also said that I am a noble guy and she would like to carry on with our friendship. I agreed to it as I was looking for a step further than friendship.

In this way, we met often at public places and then fell in love with each other and are now happily married.
